Conservatives are gaining significant ground in Europe, following the weekend's European Union (EU) elections. All 27 EU member states hosted elections over the weekend (June 6-9) for the European Parliament and some countries also hosted local elections. While votes are still being counted across the continent, early projections are showing conservative parties and candidates gaining significant ground, with centrist parties making minimal gains and left-wing parties suffering moderate to significant losses so far. |

Oklahoma Allows Parents to Excuse Children from School for Religious Education |

In the Sooner State, parents will be allowed to excuse their children from public school classes for the sake of religious education, thanks to a new law. Oklahoma's Republican Governor Kevin Stitt last week signed into law House Bill 1425, establishing guidelines to allow parents to excuse their children from up to three public school class periods per week in order to receive religious education or moral instruction off-campus. |

Washington State Superintendent Tells School Districts to Ignore New Parents' Bill of Rights Law |

Initiative 2081, otherwise known as the Parents' Bill of Rights, is a measure that was started by voters in the state of Washington that "would provide certain rights to parents and guardians of public-school children, including rights to review instructional materials, inspect records, receive certain notifications, and opt out of certain activities, like sexual-health education." In March, this initiative was approved by both the state Senate and House "by super majorities, and since it was an initiative started by voters, it does not require a governor's signature to take effect," KOMO News reported. |
