JUSTICE FOR THEIA, THE WYOMING WOLF Webinar

Cruelty Most Fowl

Combatting Unacceptable Cruelty to Birds, Including Cockfighting, Live Pigeon Shoots, and an Unprecedented Assault on Owls

DATE & TIME: Thursday, June 20, at 8 p.m. ET

Pigeon shoots maim and kill animals and treat gentle birds as animated targets. Cockfights result in roosters stabbed in the heart or lungs, due to the knives or gaffs affixed to the combatants’ legs. A planned kill of barred owls may produce an unimaginable body count of 500,000 long-protected raptors.

It collectively amounts to the killing of millions of birds. Animals slashed to death in pits, or shot up in killing fields and forest canopies because there’s not enough compassion for these vulnerable animals.

We can prevent the cruelty—the novel plan by our government to kill owls, the cloaked practice of live pigeon shoots by wealthy elites, and the ages-old practice of staging fights between animals just for human amusement. Together, we can change the fortunes of these animals. It’s you and me who are the last line of defense for these animals.

Join us Thursday, June 20, 2024, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT for the latest in our Claudia Miller Ignite Series on Animal Welfare.

We want to share with you not only the extent of the problem, but also what you can do to bring about solutions.

  • Pigeon shoots. We must forge news laws and toughen existing ones where wealthy “sportsmen” blast pigeons with shotguns for prizes. The birds are caught in cities, confined and transported in grueling conditions, and released from spring-loaded traps to be shot as living targets from point-blank range.
  • Cockfights. While many people consider this a morally settled issue, cockfighting is a shockingly widespread practice, happening on a scale that is hard to imagine. Every year, there are thousands of staged fights in our country, and millions of birds are trafficked from the United States to more than two dozen nations across the world. Each fighting derby culminates in an orgy of barbaric fights to the death with the combatants fitted with knives or curved icepicks on their legs. Other crimes always accompany the cruelty, making them dens of lawlessness that spill over into our communities.
  • Barred owl massacre. The Biden Administration is teeing up a scheme to kill 500,000 barred owls across the Pacific Northwest and spend a quarter of a billion of your tax dollars to do it. Their only crime: adapting to human disturbances of the environment. The plan is doomed to fail in protecting spotted owls from the effects of competition, and it is the largest raptor killing plan any nation has ever hatched.

The one-hour webinar will highlight our plans and progress on state and national fronts. But our plans cannot take hold and have their intended effect without you. We want to brief you on the problems and work with you to execute plans to stop the slaughter. This webinar is a springboard to action.
