The last thing Americans who have been wrongfully detained abroad need when they come home is a decimated credit score that makes it even harder for them to rebuild their lives.

Unfortunately, it’s a reality for too many of these Americans whose obvious inability to make timely payments while wrongfully held in jail overseas harms their financial standing.

That's why Chris is continuing his work to support wrongfully detained Americans by introducing The Fair Credit for American Hostages Act. This bipartisan bill will stop credit score penalties on Americans who were held hostage or wrongfully detained — helping to reduce the challenges they encounter when coming home.

This is another way Chris is bringing light to this critical issue. Just recently, he saw progress on another bill that would end tax penalties on American hostages. Chris believes it is our duty to protect our most vulnerable Americans and help those who experience traumatic events to get back on their feet.
