I have been working from home alongside my wife and two daughters and I'll be honest: It's been difficult to not be on the road -- especially not riding my motorcycle -- because it means I haven't been able to connect with Tennesseans in person as we all navigate these challenging times.

That means our online communication is more important than ever, and with so much going on in the country right now, I want to bring it back to why I got into this race in the first place.

I was motivated to run for the Senate for reasons similar to the ones that motivated me to join the army after 9/11.

When I joined the army, our country was facing a crisis. I felt it was my duty as an American to do more, so I closed my law practice at 30 years old and stepped forward to serve my country.

We're facing a crisis now, john -- not only a crisis of health and economic security but also a crisis of leadership. Tennessee and our whole country are depending on strong leaders now more than ever.

If you can, chip in before the mid-month deadline tomorrow to send a strong leader to fight for Tennessee in the Senate.

Our leaders in Washington are coming up short. They're letting partisan divisions get in the way of addressing our country's biggest issues -- issues that require timely and decisive action.

It's unacceptable -- especially at a time like this.

Washington is broken, and I'm running because it's my duty to step forward and serve all Tennesseans in a time of crisis so we can solve the problems holding us back.

Pundits say winning in Tennessee will be hard, but I've never shied away from difficult missions. As a combat veteran and a prosecutor, I've spent my entire career tackling tough challenges head-on.

As Tennessee's next senator, I promise to be a strong leader who is honest, direct, accountable, and unafraid. Because that's the kind of leader we need right now.

john, I'm counting on grassroots support. I understand that not all families can afford to make contributions right now, and that's OK, but if you are able to spare a few dollars, please consider chipping in before our mid-month deadline tomorrow.

In service,

James
