Happy Monday!

Here’s an update of what I’ve been working on and how it impacts us here in Wisconsin.

Bidenbucks in Wisconsin

I serve as the Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, which has broad oversight of our nation’s federal election law.

My latest efforts have focused on banning Bidenbucks from influencing our elections in Wisconsin.

Bidenbucks are taxpayer dollars that Joe Biden has authorized to be used by federal agencies to get-out-the-vote across the country. If left unchecked, taxpayer dollars could be used by partisan federal agencies in voter registration and ultimately influence our elections.

Last week, I sent a letter to the President of the Universities of Wisconsin to ensure federal taxpayer dollars are not being used to fund partisan election efforts on UW campuses.

Elections are partisan, but election administration should never be partisan.

Helping Racine County With Critical Water Infrastructure Projects

I’m working to secure federal funding to support necessary infrastructure projects in Racine County.

In 2020, winter storms caused significant damage to the Racine Harbor breakwater. Since then, the community has struggled to make necessary repairs to protect the historic downtown, the Lake Michigan shoreline, and the harbor from storms.

That’s why I introduced a bill that will open avenues for Racine and other community harbors to receive federal assistance for critical water infrastructure projects.

Non-Citizen Voting

Did you know that current law in Washington D.C. allows non-citizens to vote in local elections?

And what’s worse?

The Washington D.C. Board of Elections is actively encouraging non-citizens to vote in local elections.

As Chairman of the Committee on House Administration, I held a hearing to raise awareness of this practice and encourage my colleagues to support my legislation that bans non-citizens from voting in American elections.

Currently, the Wisconsin Constitution does not explicitly prohibit non-citizens from voting in Wisconsin.

This November, the people of Wisconsin will vote on a constitutional ballot initiative to decide whether non-citizens should be allowed to vote in our state. I am hopeful voters will pass it.

Federal law currently bans non-citizens from voting in federal elections. However, federal law also makes it illegal to evade Border Patrol and illegally cross the border, yet that hasn’t stopped anyone from doing it.

My position is we should work to further enforce the federal non-citizen voting laws. Enforcement of the law is critical to increase integrity in our elections.

Bryan Steil
