Team,

When I sat down to write an overview of the Texas Supreme Court's opinion in Zurawski v. Texas, I struggled to find the words.

I am extremely disappointed but not surprised. After all, this is the same court that denied Kate Cox an abortion at the end of last year.

The most shocking thing about the opinion is what isn't there. The 20 women involved in our case are written out entirely, as if their experiences don't matter. Where are their names? Where are their real experiences of being denied real, life-saving abortion care in their state?

Bringing this case wasn't easy and it's only because of the unfaltering support of people like you that we made it happen. And while I know so many of us are taking this loss very hard, I am celebrating everything we did accomplish.

Through this case and others that we filed in the last year, we have helped shift the narrative about abortion bans in the U.S. The phrase, "exceptions don't work" is everywhere. This is, in large part, because of your support.

You did that. We did that.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment and for being in the trenches with us.

Onward,

Molly Duane

Senior Staff Attorney
