Dear Friend,

I am pleased to announce that last week, the U.S. House of Representatives officially passed the first of twelve appropriations bills for fiscal year (FY) 2025. As a veteran, I fully understand the importance of funding our military operations and the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies appropriations bill honors the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and addresses their needs.

Key Aspects of Legislation:

  • Fully funds veterans' health care and benefits.
  • Prohibits the VA from processing medical care claims for illegal aliens.
  • Protects the 2nd Amendment rights of veterans by preventing the VA from sending information to the FBI about veterans without a judge's consent.
  • Provides funding for maintenance and construction of the Arlington National Cemetery.

Congress still has a lot of work ahead and I remain determined to continue our work reducing reckless spending, holding the Biden Administration accountable, and providing commonsense conservative solutions to our nation's problems.

H.R. 8282, the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act:

In May, the International Criminal Court (ICC) filed applications for arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The ICC ignores atrocities by Iran and the barbaric Hamas terrorists but threatens a democracy like Israel with baseless charges as she fights for her survival.

Last week, the House passed the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court (ICC) for their baseless arrest warrants. I was proud to vote in favor of the bill.

CPAC Award:

I am truly honored to be recognized by CPAC as one of the most conservative legislators in the U.S. House of Representatives. As a conservative, I remain determined to rein in the size and scope of the government and to deliver commonsense solutions to the issues plaguing our nation.

Fox45 Interview:

Last week, I joined Fox45 to discuss Moody's downgrade of Maryland's fiscal outlook. Out of control government spending and poor financial management in Maryland are the reasons why our bond rating was reduced from stable to negative. It is my hope that Maryland takes this wakeup call seriously and addresses it in a timely manner.

11th Annual Brain Mapping Day:

As one of a handful of physicians serving in the House of Representatives, addressing our health care needs continues to be a top priority for me. One area of importance is understanding the brain and how investments in brain mapping and therapeutics can contribute to groundbreaking advancements in health care. I had the honor to speak at the 11th Annual Brain Mapping Day to discuss the work being done in Congress on brain health and how we can improve our commitment to finding cures to diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Dementia.
