I am pleased to have announced over $10,000,000 in funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to support our district. 

HUD’s Capital Fund Program awarded $7,589,194 in funding to support the Sacramento City and Sacramento County housing authorities. 

This funding will help support the development and modernization of public housing throughout our community, ensuring more of our residents have access to a safe and affordable place to live. 

Despite this progress, I know that we still have more work to do to address high housing costs. 

I am committed to advancing common sense solutions that ensure that all Americans have access to the safe and affordable housing they need to thrive. 

The EPA's School Bus Rebate program awarded Sacramento City Unified School District $2,440,000 to purchase eight electric school buses. 

I was proud to vote for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which provided this funding to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality around our schools and neighborhoods.

This funding will also support critical investments in our region's infrastructure and create good-paying jobs right here in Sacramento County. 

Many of you have reached out to my office to share how you have been impacted by the rise in thefts and vandalism of cluster mailbox units in our community. 

I hear you and I share your concerns. The U.S. Postal Service must take additional steps to ensure that your mail is delivered safely and on time. 

As your representative, I will continue working to push postal inspectors to prioritize preventative measures and find a long-term solution to this recurring issue.

As the lead Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Indo-Pacific Subcommittee, I have the privilege of representing the United States Congress to leaders around the world. 

Earlier this year, I traveled to Taiwan alongside my fellow Congressional Taiwan Caucus Co-Chair Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL) to reaffirm support for Taiwan following their recent democratic elections. 

I was pleased to congratulate Dr. Lai Ching-te following his inauguration as Taiwan's fifth democratically-elected President a few weeks ago.

I wish President Lai great success in leading Taiwan toward new heights of progress and international cooperation. I look forward to working together to strengthen the bonds between the people of America and Taiwan. 

In other news, I was pleased to see the House Foreign Affairs Committee unanimously pass my bipartisan North Korean Human Rights Reauthorization Act (H.R. 3012). 

North Korea's oppressive regime continues to commit heinous human rights abuses against its own people, including forced disappearance, torture, and severe crackdowns on religious freedom. 

My legislation strengthens America's commitment to promoting human rights in North Korea and takes steps to hold the Kim regime accountable for their ongoing abuses.
