Friend –

With only one exception, everyone who has been wrongfully arrested based on a false face recognition match is Black.

In nearly every case, police ignored explicit instructions that they should not rely solely on an alleged face match to make an arrest. And yet, a bill pending in the California legislature would codify these same failed rules into law.

We urgently need your help to stop this dangerous bill from reaching the governor's desk!

Passing AB 1814 would effectively greenlight facial recognition technology. At a time when our rights are already under attack, AB 1814 would pave the way for even more harmful face surveillance, endangering immigrants, activists, and individuals seeking reproductive and gender-affirming care.

Police do not need this racist and unreliable technology. Tell your state senator to Vote NO on AB 1814. <[link removed]>

Thanks for taking action,
