Today marks 61 years since JFK signed the Equal Pay Act into law – but in the past 20 years (most of our working lives) the gender pay gap between men and women has barely budged.

Overall, women are only paid about $0.84 for every dollar men are, and for most women of color that number is even lower. Pay discrimination costs women over $500 billion a year.

When you look at Congress, it's not hard to see why this hasn't changed… only about 1 in 4 members are women.
