Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
STANDING UP AGAINST THE ILLEGITIMATE ICC
Last month, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced their plan to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Gallant for war crimes. This is ridiculous and hypocritical. If the ICC is intent on pressing charges, they should be against the Iran-backed terrorists who butchered 1,200 and took hundreds of hostages on October 7.
I cosponsored and voted for H.R. 8282, the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act, which passed the House last week. The bill would require the President to impose sanctions on anyone engaged in the ICC cases against Netanyahu and Gallant. It would also ensure U.S. funding can never flow to the ICC. PASSING CRITICAL MILITARY AND VETERAN FUNDING
Last week, the House passed H.R. 8580, the FY25 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies budget bill. It fully funds veteran health care and benefits programs, enhances the quality of life of our troops and their families and bolsters our international security in the Indo-Pacific region. I’m pleased the bill also includes several of my initiatives addressing transparency and care at the VA. Click here to learn more.
NATIONAL PLAN TO END PARKINSON'S ACT PASSES SENATE
Approximately one million people in the U.S. endure the debilitating affects of Parkinson's disease. While there have been breakthroughs, like the discovery of a key biomarker, more must be done at the federal level to find a cure. That's why I cosponsored H.R. 2365, to unite public and private sector experts through a federal advisory council to better diagnose, prevent, treat and ultimately cure Parkinson’s disease. The council will regularly report its progress to Congress and the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services. I am pleased this bill passed the House and Senate and is now headed to the President's desk. Click here to learn more.
