It's almost time for the annual moose hunting permit drawing!?

Plan your trip to the annual moose hunting permit lottery, [ [link removed] ] and discover if you will be selected for the hunt of a lifetime this fall. This year's permit drawing will take place in *Fort Kent at Riverside Park (40 Dufour Street) on Saturday, June 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.* The event is hosted by the Town of Fort Kent and Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and we can't wait to see you there.

Come for the day or book a weekend adventure to enjoy the outdoors and local businesses. There are a variety of place to stay [ [link removed] ], places to eat [ [link removed] ], and sights to see [ [link removed] ]. The Town of Fort Kent is planning a variety of activities throughout the day, including Axe Women Loggers of Maine, a moose field judging contest, vendor tents, face painting and kids? games, a BB gun activity hosted by National Wild Turkey Federation, and much more! At 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, the moose permit lottery drawing will commence. There is no charge to attend the lottery and the reading of names is expected to last 3 hours.

This year, 4,105 permits will be drawn in the random chance lottery from a pool of over 72,000 applicants.

Maine?s moose hunt is designed to manage the moose population. By modifying the number and type of moose permits available to hunters, the department can manage the moose population to provide for hunting and viewing opportunities, maintain a healthy moose population, and limit the number of moose/vehicle accidents.

For those prospective moose hunters who can?t make it to the lottery drawing, the names of permit winners will be posted on the Department?s website by 6:00 p.m. on the day of the event. Visit mefishwildlife.com [ [link removed] ] to access the list once it has been posted.
