During Fatherhood Awareness Month, Wayne Bugg's story resonates for so many in the black community. The commonly promoted idea of living a life separate from your kids has led to generations of children growing up without a father figure to guide them. What was once initiated by the welfare state continues today and has been amplified by pop culture and an abandonment of the values once held so strongly by the black family.
The movement to return to our cultural roots of faith, family, and education is exemplified by Wayne. He has set an example for his family, and in doing so has experienced a joy like no other.
His decision to step away from living a hazardous life, a once self-proclaimed 'wild man,' to live a life centered on God's design for marriage and family has given him a reason to live. His 15-year marriage and 5 children all benefit greatly from his presence in the home, and he inspires those around him as he leads by example.
The power of fatherhood is life-changing!
