Dear  john ,

This past week, we commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day. May we never forget the heroism of the men who stormed the beaches of Normandy that day, and the sacrifice they made for America and the entire free world.

Rowan County’s own Jim Deal, now 101 years old, served as a gunner in the 737th Tank Battalion, and recounted his experiences to the Salisbury Veterans Affairs Office earlier this year. He attended the 75th anniversary celebration of D-Day in Normandy, France, in 2019.

It’s an honor to represent Mr. Deal, and all our veterans in the eighth district, in Congress. If you or your family are dealing with issues related to veterans’ benefits or interfacing with a federal agency, my office is always happy to assist.

Service Academy Nominations

As your Representative, it's a great honor to nominate patriotic young students for admission to four of our nation's Service Academies - the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

On Saturday, my office hosted a luncheon for the students in our district who received nominations. Congratulations to these upstanding young men and women!

The Week in Weaponized Government

This past week, Attorney General Merrick Garland testified before the House Judiciary Committee. It was what we’ve come to expect from the Biden administration – contempt, stonewalling, and patronizing testimony.

After we’ve seen the federal government bully social media companies into censoring lawful speech, Garland now claims the DOJ won’t coerce social media companies into removing speech.

Do you believe him?

Garland is currently defying a Congressional subpoena – he refuses to turn over the audio tapes of Biden’s interviews with Special Counsel Robert Hur in defiance of a Congressional subpoena. He even admitted during questioning that he is the arbiter of whether those tapes will be released to Congress. Meanwhile, his DOJ imprisoned two Trump advisors, Peter Navarro and Steve Bannon, for not complying with the sham January 6th committee.

WATCH: What happened to Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro?

A two-tiered system of Justice cannot stand.

TWEET: This is election interference, plain and simple.

Border Madness

This past week, Biden attempted to fool the American people into thinking he was taking action to close the border. This couldn’t be further from the truth though. The American people saw through the ruse, as Biden’s order would still allow nearly one million illegal immigrants to cross the border each year.

TWEET: Radical and dangerous.

Biden’s newest executive order will fast-track the process for illegal aliens to entry the country using a smartphone app, and will allow approximately 912,500 new illegal aliens, among many other disastrous provisions.

We saw the tragic consequences of open borders again this week, as an illegal immigrant allowed into the country and released from custody by the Biden administration now stands accused of shooting two NYPD officers attempting to arrest him for another crime.

This will only worsen as Biden’s invasion continues. It’s tragic for our nation, and it’s massive threat to the safety and well-being of all Americans.
