Dear John,

In this week's Newsletter: Remembering D-Day, my work on the Ways and Means Committee, my stops around the 16th District, and more. If you need help with federal agencies, please reach out to one of my offices listed at the bottom of this newsletter.

Remembering D-Day

This past Thursday, we honored the sacrifice made by the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy 80-years ago. It is because of these heroes that we live free today. We must never forget those men and the Greatest Generation that followed.

"The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you." - Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower

My Stop at Braveheart Children's Advocacy Center

It was great to visit with the employees at Braveheart in Cambridge to hear about their amazing efforts to help children in need and give victims of abuse support to reintegrate into school and social life as seamlessly as possible. I am grateful to this group of selfless individuals who work tirelessly to make their surrounding communities and our state a better place.

Discussing the Farm Bill in Henry County

I recently met with the Henry County Farm Bureau and farmers in the area during a roundtable to discuss the House's version of this year's Farm Bill. It was great to get their input on how Congress can better support our farmers and producers. As long as I am in Congress, I will always be a strong advocate for Illinois agriculture!

Reforming Unemployment Insurance

This past week, I chaired a Ways and Means Work and Welfare Subcommittee hearing on reforming unemployment insurance policies to better combat fraud and support our workers. Taxpayers deserve transparency and accountability in our unemployment insurance policies.

Reservoir Gifted Academy visiting D.C.

Image

I always enjoy visiting with students from the Reservoir Gifted Academy during their annual trip to DC! I had an incredible time speaking with such a great group of students. I appreciate Andy Sea for organizing the trip and to the teachers at Reservoir for their work to educate future leaders in the Peoria area.
