John,
Yesterday, a heart-wrenching and tragic event struck Gaza. Israel carried out an operation aided by US intelligence that succeeded in rescuing four hostages, but it came at an unbearably high price: nearly 300 Palestinians were brutally murdered, and countless others injured, as Israeli forces infiltrated and raided the Nuseirat refugee camp.
Each life lost in this conflict, whether Israeli or Palestinian, is a profound and irreplaceable tragedy. The continued violence only drives us further from the peace we all yearn for.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the US-constructed temporary pier in Gaza, intended for humanitarian aid, was used during this operation. While the US denies these claims and says only intelligence aid was provided, an independent investigation is crucial to uncover the true extent of the actions taken and their impact on innocent civilians. We cannot allow for any more US complicity in this inhumanity.
As many of you know, I have been an unwavering advocate for peace since the beginning of this conflict. I have consistently called for a permanent ceasefire because I believe true security can only be achieved through dialogue, understanding, and a commitment to coexistence.
Unlike my opponent, Jimmy Gomez, I have refused money from AIPAC and other pro-Israel lobbying groups. Jimmy, however, has taken over $250,000 from these groups and has refused to support a congressional resolution calling for a ceasefire.
