Hey team – it’s Harry Dunn.
Have I ever shown you this tattoo?
I got this tattoo in honor of my hero and a true democracy defender, the late Congressman John Lewis.
The Black heart, that represents the struggle of Black people. It's a struggle every Black American faces throughout their life. And being a Black man, running for Congress, that's the ultimate sign I've persevered through the struggles.
The blood tears are for all the bloodshed Black Americans cast from peaceful demonstrations like the March on Washington or Bus Boycotts. Hundreds of Black heroes, like John Lewis, took beatings that day – and some even laid down their lives so that people like me could have a voice in our democracy.
And the red lightning symbolizes the chaos that ensues when you get into good trouble. Because like John Lewis said, "get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America."
It's because of my heroes that I have the opportunity to lead Democracy Defenders PAC and be one of the loudest voices fighting for our democracy. I'm following down the path they carved for Black Americans. If you’re ready to get into good trouble with me, can you chip in $15 or whatever you can afford to help me fight for our democracy?
All my best,
Harry
