I just spoke with thousands of fired up Democrats at the TDP State Convention in El Paso.

My message was simple. In spite of the bigotry, the hatred, the obstruction, and the corruption we see from our state leaders, I still have hope for better days ahead.

I talked about my grandfather and the lessons he taught me, how Republican extremists have failed our state, and how we must all do our part to build a Texas as good as its promise.

Know this -- we are not the bystanders in the story of our future; we are the authors.

The power to create change lies within each of us. But it’s going to take everything we’ve got to ensure we have strong public schools, access to healthcare, good jobs, the freedom to vote, and equality for all.
