Civil war in Sudan has created the world’s largest refugee crisis, and it’s having a devastating impact on women and girls in the region.
Sexual violence should never be wielded as a weapon of war. But in Sudan today, it is horrifically being used on people indiscriminate of age and devoid of mercy. Millions in Sudan are being pushed towards catastrophic levels of hunger, and attackers are using desperation to their advantage.
More than 50 incidents of sexual violence linked to the hostilities have been reported, impacting at least 105 victims — 86 women, one man, and 18 children. This crisis has instilled terror for people with barely any recourse to health services, support, or justice.
Thanks to your humanitarian gifts, UNFPA has already reached more than 600,000 women and girls with violence response and prevention services.
“They offered us a lifeline,” Amina , who has been displaced, said. “The feeling that there is someone who cares about you, especially as a displaced person, means so much,” another woman, Samia , told us.
As a staggering 6.7 million women still need violence protection and intervention, your support remains critical to our work in Sudan.
Will you make an emergency gift to deliver lifesaving care to the displaced women and girls in Sudan and beyond who need it most? [[link removed]]
