John,
Too many elected officials are millionaires who can self-finance their campaigns, and who don’t understand the needs of their constituents. That’s why we need more working people to run for office, who understand the urgent struggles of everyday people and who will fight for the transformative changes we deserve, including tenants’ rights, workers’ rights, and more.
Layla Taha is running for State Representative in Michigan. Layla was raised by a single working mother and believes strongly in strengthening human rights and building a government by and for the working class.
She’s the only pro-ceasefire candidate in her Democratic primary and she’s running to ensure everyone has access to quality healthcare, affordable housing, a livable wage, and clean water and air. Unlike many Michigan state legislators, Layla also refuses to take any contributions from corporations, instead relying on grassroots donations to power her campaign.
I am proud to endorse Layla Taha for State Representative. Can you join me today by making a donation to Layla’s people-powered campaign and help send a champion for working people to Lansing to fight for us?
Layla has the courage to speak up for the humanity of all people, including Palestinians and others endangered by U.S.-backed Israeli attacks in countries like Lebanon, where she has family. This makes her vulnerable to attacks from right-wing groups like anti-Palestinian group AIPAC, which is spending millions of dollars to defeat ceasefire candidates.
Donate to Layla’s campaign for State Representative today and fight for a future that includes all of us.

John,
As a proud Arab American Congresswoman, I know that many people across our country are facing intense anti-Arab hatred and dehumanization while feeling abandoned by our government. It’s important for our community and all marginalized communities to feel seen, heard, and celebrated by our government.
For years I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside Layla Taha, an Arab American running for State Representative in Michigan who is unapologetically committed to saving lives, no matter faith or ethnicity. She’s speaking out for the humanity of the Palestinian people, as well as others in danger from the U.S.-backed Israeli attacks on nearby countries like Lebanon, where she has family.
When Layla led my team’s constituent services programs and our youth fellowship program, her deep love and commitment to our district’s residents was clear. She will work hard for all of us to build a government that works for the working class, where everyone has access to quality healthcare, affordable housing, a livable wage, and clean water and air.
Layla is a public health advocate and community organizer with an organizing background in voting rights and reproductive freedom. She helped enshrine abortion as a right in our state’s constitution. And in Michigan, where 93% of our state legislators take money from the exploitative utility monopoly DTE, the fact that she’s pushing for a publicly owned utility and refusing to take corporate donations is powerful.
I am proud to support Layla Taha for State Representative―and she needs our support today. Click here to donate directly to Layla’s campaign and help elect a champion for Palestinian rights and working families.
Because Layla isn’t afraid to push back against the unjust status quo, she needs to be prepared to push back against attacks from corporate interests as well as anti-Palestinian groups like AIPAC, which is spending millions of dollars to defeat ceasefire candidates up and down the ballot across the country.
If elected as the next Michigan State Representative for Metro Detroit, Layla will make sure that our government in Lansing prioritizes people over profits. As Layla said upon the launch of her campaign:
"In my commitment to justice and equity I am not accepting corporate donations. I believe our elected representatives must be beholden to the people, not wealthy corporations and donors."
She has also said that “every decision I’ll be making as a legislator is going to be about what’s in the best interest of my constituents” rather than corporate interests. She’s out knocking doors every day, prioritizing connecting with everyday people. Instead of corporate donations, Layla is relying on grassroots support.
Can you donate today to help elect Layla Taha as our next State Representative in Michigan? Together, let’s send a champion for everyday people to fight for the society we deserve.
