John —
When Gabby and I first kicked off this campaign, we wanted to do things a little differently.
To me, public service is about serving people. And I don't think you can do that very effectively if some big corporation has you in its pocket.
So, one of the first things we decided was that I was never — ever — going to take donations from corporate PACs. Not a dime.
This was a key piece of the platform I ran on in 2020, and again in 2022. And that’s why I reintroduced the Ban Corporate PACs Act with Jon Ossoff last month, before the anniversary of the Citizens United decision that opened the floodgates for corporate money in our elections.
Last year, pharmaceutical companies fought tooth and nail to block legislation that would reduce the cost of prescription medication for seniors. It’s an all too familiar story, and one that doesn’t often have a happy ending.
But this time, the pharmaceutical companies failed. Millions of people will benefit as a result.
And that’s why I’m writing. Things like this can make a big difference in Washington, so I’m asking you to endorse my standard of government. That means all members of Congress should:
I’m the only one in the Senate who does this today, but with any luck, we’ll pull a few more people to our side with your support.
Thanks for listening,
Mark Kelly
