One year ago yesterday, this movement won big at the Supreme Court — securing an important victory protecting Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and ensuring Black Alabamians have a fair chance to elect the candidate of their choice in a new district.

But while the Court’s decision in Allen v. Milligan gave our movement the opportunity to advocate for – and achieve – new, fair districts across the country before the 2024 election, the GOP’s efforts to undermine our elections continue to this day.

These anti-democratic forces will do absolutely anything to gerrymander — and it’s up to us to stop them.

This election year is a critical moment for the NDRC’s work, and we’re counting on grassroots supporters like you to power our efforts nationwide. Chip in $30 today to continue fighting for fairness so we can hand power to the people. [[link removed]]

Friends, fair maps have a real, tangible impact on our democratic process.

When voters headed to the polls in the first congressional election in Alabama since the landmark victory at the Supreme Court, Democratic primary voter turnout in the state’s new Black opportunity district saw an extraordinary 134% increase over the 2022 Democratic primary there.

It’s clear that Alabama’s representative map is a boon for political participation. That’s great news for democracy!

Now, we must continue fighting for more victories and pushing back against anti-democratic forces. Will you pitch in to help the NDRC continue working across the country to prevent gerrymandering, secure fair maps, and strengthen our democracy? [[link removed]]

Thank you,
Marina
