Friends, this week was tough.
About as tough of a week as I can remember on this campaign.
For a while there it felt like everything that could possibly go wrong was happening — Republicans and outside groups were adding more money to their attack ads, our fundraising was way-way down, Kari Lake was ripping into me on social media, and Trump himself came to Arizona and attacked me. Personally.
But I’m not going to cut and run just because things get a little tough. And when it’s looking dark, I try to remember what’s at stake in this election.
I’m running for people like my mom, raising kids as a single mother and holding down multiple jobs just to get by.
I’m running for the Marine brothers I lost in Iraq.
I’m running for my son and daughter.
I’m running for everyone who grew up like I did, everyone who feels like they’re getting left behind by a system that doesn’t care about them.
If Trump and Lake win, it’s going to be a living nightmare. It’s so dangerous that I don’t even want to consider it. Our democracy itself is at stake, and we have to do whatever we can to defend it.
And right now, in this race, what stands between us and victory is whether or not we raise the resources we need to win.
So, I’m writing to ask whether you can chip in $5 or $10 tonight to my campaign. We’ve got an FEC deadline approaching at the end of this month, and it’s absolutely critical that we show strength out here. I need you, FIRST. Really.
