We all face a monumental choice this November. We can continue down our current path, filled with partisanship, extremism, and dysfunction, OR we can return common sense and strong independent leadership to Washington.
It’s time to extinguish the toxic partisanship and focus on making progress on the real issues Marylanders and Americans are facing.
That’s what I did for eight years as your governor, and it’s exactly what I'll do in the United States Senate.
Many Americans are thoroughly convinced that we are hopelessly divided as a nation, Washington is completely dysfunctional, and our entire political system is fundamentally broken.
The voices of the exhausted majority are often ignored in deference to the demands of the loudest and angriest few who seem hell-bent on tearing America apart. They want to burn it all down.
Instead of doing their jobs and making progress on the most important issues facing Marylanders and Americans, extreme partisans in BOTH parties do their best to divide us from each other.
Simply put, instead of leading us, they are failing us.
Rather than add more fuel to the fire, Governor Hogan is in this Senate race to extinguish the division and name-calling and return strong independent leadership to Washington.
Governor Hogan has a long track record of putting out partisan fires. He did it as governor, and it is exactly what he’ll do in the U.S. Senate – with your help.
This is the toughest race he’s ever run, and it will undoubtedly get more competitive as we inch closer to Election Day. He’s the underdog in this race, so your support right now is critical.
As we’ve said before, Governor Hogan’s campaign relies on grassroots support to reach more Marylanders with his message of ending the partisan divides in Washington.
Gov. Hogan will NOT serve one person or one party obediently in the Senate. He will only do what he thinks is RIGHT for Marylanders and Americans.
If doing what’s right for Maryland sometimes comes in conflict with party politics, so be it. He will continue to be the same strong independent leader for Maryland that he always has been.
When I launched my campaign for the U.S. Senate, I did so with a deep resolve to maintain the leadership style and principles that guided me during my eight years as governor.
Fifty years ago, my father, Maryland Congressman Larry Hogan Sr. made a tough decision. He became the first Republican to come out for the impeachment of President Nixon. He put aside party politics and his own personal considerations and stepped up to do the right thing for Maryland and the nation.
Today, Washington is completely broken because that kind of leadership and willingness to put country over party has become far too rare. But it’s not in my nature to sit back and watch the dysfunction continue without doing what I can to roll up my sleeves and get to work.
I’m under no illusion this will be an easy road. But I’m no stranger to uphill battles, and I know I can’t do it without your support.
I don't aspire to be a United States senator. I don’t need a title and I don’t need a job, but I’m more concerned than ever about the direction of the country and I have become more convinced that I can make a difference by taking the approach and style of leadership I had during my eight years as governor to Washington.
It’s no surprise this mindset has made me a target of the Washington partisans. Despite early polls showing a lead, I know I’m the underdog in this race. And that’s why your support TODAY is so crucial.
For eight years, we proved that the toxic politics that divide our nation didn’t need to divide our state, and we got results! Let’s get back to work again and send a message to Washington that will be heard loud and clear across the country!
