Hey John—Martin Sheen here.
You probably know me from my roles as Captain Benjamin Willard in Apocalypse Now or President Jed Bartlet from The West Wing. But today I’m writing to you just as myself, fellow citizen Martin Sheen.
You’re probably wondering what I’m doing in your inbox. The truth is: I’m worried. I’m nervous about the upcoming elections, and what it might mean for our country if Republicans retake the Senate majority.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my friend, Jon Tester. Jon is a third-generation Montanan and the Senate’s only working dirt farmer.
He fights for working families, for veterans, and for farmers just like him.
He works tirelessly to protect our public lands, safeguard reproductive rights, and keep costs down for everyday Americans.
He’s also running in the most important race in the country. The path to keeping the Senate majority runs right through Montana, and reports say Mitch McConnell is laser focused on doing and spending whatever he needs to take Jon’s seat.
Since Jon works for you—not super PACs or special interests—he and his team rely on grassroots donors chipping in $5, $25, or $100 at a time. With polls showing this race in a virtual tie, whatever amount you can give today will make a difference in protecting Jon’s seat and delivering the Senate for Democrats:

I've been an activist most of my life, John. I’ll never stop fighting for the vision of our country that I see in my mind: one where we look out for our neighbors, where we work together to solve problems, and stand shoulder to shoulder in pursuit of a more perfect nation.
But that future relies on us reelecting Senator Tester this fall. I’m going to do everything in my power to make that happen and I’m encouraging you to step up as well.
What do you say, John? Can we count on you to pitch in $5 to make an impact on the most important race in the nation? >>
Thank you,
Martin Sheen
