John,
Today is World Oceans Day. Healthy oceans are essential for a healthy climate, but plastic pollution is poisoning them, overwhelming our rivers and streams, endangering communities, and undermining our efforts to transition off fossil fuels.
The plastics production supply chain is a public health menace at every step — from the leaky and dangerous fracking wells and pipelines to the mega-refineries that churn out air pollution. The consequences impact all of us — animals, people, and our ocean and planet.
U.S. Senators Cory Booker (NJ), Jeff Merkley (OR), and U.S. Representative Jared Huffman (CA-02) have reintroduced the Protecting Communities from Plastics Act, legislation that tackles the plastic production crisis.
Please send a message to Congress today asking them to co-sponsor this legislation. It’s time to end plastic's destructive cycle.

Sadly, most plastic we put into the recycling bin isn’t recycled. Instead, it piles up in landfills or collects in enormous quantities in our oceans, lakes, and rivers, which means the chemicals used to make plastic are seeping into our soil and water, at great risk to our health.
Food & Water Action is fighting back! John, will you challenge these polluting industries with us? It’s time we stand up to the corporations flooding the world with more and more plastic pollution. It’s time to demand we break free from plastic.

NO MORE PLASTIC

The Protecting Communities from Plastics Act would:
- Directly tackle the plastic pollution crisis by cracking down on the plastic production process.
- Establish stricter rules for petrochemical plants to safeguard community health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions fueling the climate crisis.
- Create new nationwide targets for plastic source reduction and reuse.
Let’s raise our voices against the destruction caused by plastic. Together, we can oppose ever-growing plastic production and demand that we break free from plastic for our oceans, communities, and ourselves.
Tell your members of Congress that it’s time to rein in plastic pollution — support the Protecting Communities from Plastics Act.
