Dear John,
A few days ago, my son put the magnitude of our human population into perspective for me. The figure is hard to wrap my mind around: more than eight billion total! Now imagine 55 times this—that's the number of shrimp worldwide who are farmed and killed for human food in just one year.
More than ever, animals exploited in aquaculture need us.
On May 30 in London, we held a peaceful first-of-its-kind demonstration urging Tesco, the UK's leading retailer, to ban the two cruelest practices at their shrimp supplier farms: cutting live animals' eyes off and killing shrimp by suffocation in ice slurry.
Tesco alone can change five billion animals' lives each year.
Will you take a stand for these animals?
