John,
I wanted to take a moment to catch you up on our race for Connecticut's 5th Congressional District. It's heating up QUICK!
The stakes couldn't be higher — political pundits across the nation are closely watching our campaign, knowing that this race could very well decide the House majority.
I've been traveling all over the district every day, meeting incredible people like you, hearing your stories, and sharing our vision for flipping the 5th District red. |
The energy and support from our community have been amazing, and it’s clear we’re all ready for change.
Thank you for your relentless support and dedication. Let's keep pushing forward — together, we will #FlipTheFifth in November! |
"HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Thousands of people including police officers from throughout the Northeast and beyond gathered Wednesday for the funeral of a Connecticut state trooper killed by a hit-and-run driver during a traffic stop last week.
Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier, 34, was remembered as a dedicated public servant and loving husband and father of two young boys.
'He was a man of integrity and honor, and I will make sure our children always know those traits definitely came from him,' his wife, Dominique, said in a tearful speech. 'To my honey, you weren’t just my husband. You were my home. You were my heart. You were my safe place and my provider. My best friend. My secret keeper. My favorite gossiper.
'The light in our smiles will be forever dimmed and the thought of this world without that laugh seems unimaginable but has already become real,' she said. 'I promise to keep you alive in our home, in our heart and in our boys’ memories forever. I love you, and I miss you.'" |
"U.S Rep. Jahana Hayes will face a familiar face as she seeks a fourth term representing the state’s 5th Congressional District in Congress.
The Democrat seems headed for a rematch against Republican George Logan, a challenger she beat by only 0.8 percentage points in 2022.
Experts think that close race sets up another hotly contested election this time.
'This is one district that could make a difference in which party controls the Congress,' Sacred Heart Political Science Professor Gary Heart said." |
"The illegal immigrant accused of shooting two New York City Police Department officers in Queens was arraigned on attempted murder and other charges on Wednesday, as prosecutors outlined how the suspect allegedly opened fire at "point-blank range" during a struggle on the ground.
Bernardo Raul Castro Mata, 19, appeared remotely from his hospital bed to be arraigned in Queens Criminal Court in connection to the shooting of Officers Richard Yarusso and Christopher Abreu.
Judge Jeffrey Gershuny ordered Castro Mato, who is recovering from a gunshot wound to the ankle, held without bail on charges of attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration, the New York Daily News reported. More than 50 police officers attended the hearing in person to show support for Yarusso and Abreu." |
"The first full day after the announcement of President Biden’s executive order restricting asylum for most illegal immigrants appeared to have no immediate impact on the massive number of migrants coming across the southern border.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources tell Fox News that Border Patrol apprehended about 4,000 illegal immigrants between ports of entry at the southern border on Wednesday. That is about on par or a little bit higher than what the averages have been in recent weeks, which is usually in the mid to high 3,000s or around 4,000.
Overall, there were roughly 5,600 CBP encounters on Wednesday, which includes the 4,000 illegal crossings and CBP One App releases at ports of entry." |
"The Department of Energy canceled two major purchases to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve on Wednesday — a signal that the Biden administration may slow or pause replenishment of the reserve as oil prices rise.
DOE will not award contracts to supply the SPR with a total of 3 million barrels of crude oil in August and September, as prices topped $84 per barrel of U.S. benchmark West Texas Intermediate. The agency cited the need to keep 'the taxpayer’s interest at the forefront,' but said it would 'continue to solicit available capacity as market conditions allow.'" |
