Over the years, we have made incredible progress in the fight for equality. We passed Tammy’s Respect for Marriage Act, protecting same-sex marriage nationwide. We passed the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act. We have a historic number of LGBTQ+ Americans running for office and winning at every level.

But folks, we cannot mistake that progress for victory.

Just because you can get married on a Friday doesn’t mean you can’t also be fired the next Monday just because of who you are and who you love.

In far too many states, members of the LGBTQ+ community live without non-discrimination laws and can be denied an apartment, fired from a job, thrown out of a store, or face other forms of discrimination.

That’s why Tammy is a proud cosponsor of the Equality Act — a bill to ensure every LGBTQ+ American has the full freedom of equality and protection under federal law.

Now is the time to build on the momentum of Tammy’s hard work to protect the rights of every LGBTQ+ American — and she’s counting on you to join her.
