Garbage Collection Following Recent Storms
Republic Services is working diligently to collect garbage, recycling, and brush following the recent storms that impacted the entire DFW area. They have been navigating several challenges, including being unable to fully access landfills for a time due to flooding. Given the magnitude of the storms, Republic is working with numerous DFW cities to provide special storm cleanup services in specific areas that had the most significant amount of storm damage. Republic began this process in Hurst this week. All other areas will continue to be serviced under existing guidelines. It remains the responsibility of residents to ensure tree limbs and brush are properly placed at the curb for collection. If you are disabled or need other assistance, we encourage you to contact a local nonprofit. The City can also provide guidance to those in need.
Republic is prioritizing residential garbage first because of potential environmental/health concerns. They ask for patience as they work to get caught up from the recent storms and will collect the remaining storm debris as soon as possible.
Here are some reminders from Republic Services as they work to collect regular household garbage and brush/storm debris -
• Garbage must be placed in a garbage bag or contained in a garbage can. The total weight of garbage and containers cannot exceed 50 pounds.
• Tree limbs and brush must be bundled, no longer than four feet long, and not exceeding fifty pounds.
• Special pickup for loose brush can be arranged by calling Republic Services at 817-332-7301.
• You can access our free landfill day on Saturday, June 8. Details are available at hursttx.gov/trash.
We appreciate your continued patience as Republic Services works to collect all remaining items over the coming weeks.
