The right to birth control was just blocked…

Hi John,

It’s happening again – women’s healthcare is under attack.

On Wednesday the Senate voted on a bill that would protect the right to birth control.

The Right to Contraception Act would codify the right to contraception in federal law, protecting access to essential healthcare for tens of millions of Americans.

However, the bill fell short of 60 votes to pass, with 51 in favor and 39 against. Some senators even failed to show up for the vote (a statement in itself). And guess what, John? Both of North Carolina’s Senators voted AGAINST this critical legislation.

The message has never been clearer. The right to reproductive healthcare, even as basic as contraception, is under constant threat. I’m in Congress relentlessly advocating for reproductive rights and access to healthcare. This fight is far from over, will you please pitch in $5 or anything you can to keep me on the frontlines?

DONATE NOW

Sen. Ted Budd’s and Sen. Thom Tillis’ votes are not a reflection of North Carolina’s morals, nor should they act as a source of defeat in our fight. Unfortunately, this is just a small example in the grand scheme of reproductive injustice.

Reproductive freedom is a fundamental liberty. We have to keep pushing back against archaic ideals that dictate a woman’s right to reproductive health. Something as basic as birth control should not be a worry for tens of millions of Americans.

I’m in this for the long run, John. But, I need to make sure you’re by my side as I run for re-election so I can continue championing reproductive rights – will you support me with a donation of $5 or anything you can today?
