Dear neighbor,
Happy Pride Month! Since my time in the California State Senate, I have been a tireless advocate for equality for all. I am honored to have authored the first state-wide ban on so-called "conversion therapy," a harmful practice that is at best fraud and at worst abuse of our LGBTQI+ neighbors.
As your representative in Washington, I am continuing this fight by reintroducing a national version of this ban called the Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act. I will always step up to defend basic freedoms, no matter who you are or who you love.
PHOTO OF THE WEEK: I was thrilled to host VA Secretary Denis McDonough for dinner this week with other members of the House Democratic Caucus. Together, we are working hard to ensure all of our nation’s veterans have access to the critical services they have earned and deserve. Here’s what else I did this week in Washington:
- Signed a petition to call for a vote on legislation that would codify the right to contraception.
- Announced our Community Project Funding requests for Fiscal Year 2025! Each of these projects aims to make our communities stronger, safer and healthier.
- Celebrated Immigrant Heritage Month! Immigrants have made countless contributions to our nation’s history, culture and economy.
- Questioned Attorney General Garland about the baseless conspiracy theory spouted by MAGA extremists that the justice system has been weaponized against convicted felon Donald Trump. Watch our exchange below.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call my D.C. office at (202) 225-3976 or my Los Angeles district office at (323) 651-1040. I look forward to updating you again soon.
Warmly,
Ted
