The Minnesota Republican Party confirmed to the Star Tribune today that they are drafting a letter in support of the defendants facing criminal charges for the crimes they committed during the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

By supporting these defendants, whose violence led to the deaths of several police officers, the Minnesota GOP has proven that they have completely abandoned the mainstream. 

It’s impossible not to draw the conclusion that Republicans believe that political violence and crime are okay as long as it’s done by or in the name of Donald Trump and the Republican Party.

DFLers know that no one – not even a president – is above the law. But while the Minnesota GOP’s shameless embrace of violent criminals shows just how low their party has sunk, the reality is we have an extremely tough fight ahead of us to keep Minnesota blue in November.
