THE WEEK's BIG 3

ADL filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission, charging that Jewish Voice for Peace’s political action committee, JVP Action PAC, has repeatedly failed to comply with federal elections law. ADL joined a coalition of two dozen Jewish groups urging Congress to “provide the highest possible funding” in 2025 for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights. Over 3,000 marchers joined families of hostages in calling for an immediate deal to free the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza at New York's Israel Day parade.

Anti-Israel group accused of breaking election laws as it backs reps Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar

“A high-profile anti-Israel group was accused Monday of breaking election laws – and told it must come clean on how it is spending its donors’ cash. The Jewish Voice for Peace Action PAC calls itself the “electoral wing” and “sister organization” of anti-Zionist group Jewish Voice for Peace, which has funded and organized campus protests, some of which turned violent. It also calls itself Jewish Vote for Peace. But the Anti-Defamation League alleged Monday that JVP Action PAC is breaking strict laws on its spending – and said it should be forced to account for where its money goes.”  New York Post: FULL STORY

Broad coalition of Jewish groups urges ‘highest possible funding’ for Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights

“In a letter sent to key members of the Senate and House Appropriations Committees on Friday, a coalition of 23 Jewish groups, spanning a range of political and denominational positions, urged Congress to “provide the highest possible funding” in 2025 for the Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights. The widespread support for funding for the office, known as OCR, is notable given political divisions over the issue on Capitol Hill. Democrats critical of Republicans’ approach to combating antisemitism on campuses have emphasized calls for increased funding for the office.”  Jewish Insider :  FULL STORY

Intense Security at Peaceful Parade for Israel in Manhattan

“Thousands of supporters of Israel marched along Fifth Avenue on Sunday during a heavily policed Israel Day parade that took on a more somber tone this year as the war in Gaza enters its eighth month.”  The New York Times: FULL STORY

+ADL Tweet: The difference between these crowds is clear. In one image, fully masked anti-Israel protestors cheer for the death of the hostages - a clear intimidation tactic. In the other, @CelebrateIsrael Parade-goers voice support for the hostages, their families & Nova Festival survivors.

KEY ADL SOCIAL STATEMENTS

  • As #Pride month begins, we're proud to be celebrating with the LGBTQ+ community. We'll continue to monitor threats and campaigns targeting LGBTQ+ people and events. Between June 2022 and April 2023, we tracked 350+ anti-LGBTQ+ hate incidents nationally.
  • It shouldn't have taken until protestors stormed, occupied & vandalized the President's office with violent graffiti before @Stanford took action against those who violated the school's policies. But we thank the administration & law enforcement for acting decisively in the end.
  • When Hamas terrorists brutally attacked Israel on Oct 7, it was autumn. Winter and spring have since passed. Summer is approaching. And still, more than 100 hostages remain in captivity. It's been 8 months. We cannot let the world look away. We must #BringThemHome - all of them
