Congressman Mike Thompson here – contacting you about two upcoming events happening on June 22nd.
As you might know, I chair the Gun Violence Prevention task force that was established in 2012 and I recently became the chair of the Congressional Bike Caucus. Because both of these causes are so important to me, for the past seven years, I have supported a local community event called Rock the Ride.
Rock the Ride is a bike ride and walk for the community to take action about gun violence prevention. It’s a great way to get the community organized for a critical issue and get active together.

This year, we will be having a burritos and bubbles brunch following the ride, with special guests Peter Stetina, a local cycling legend, Chris Cosentino, chef, author, and cyclist, and Marianne Martin, who won the very first Tour de France Féminin in 1984, a race that ran alongside the Tour de France.
Rock the Ride will be taking place in the morning in Yountville and later that same day we’re having a special reception with Marianne at the Walt Wines tasting room in downtown Napa.
This is a rare opportunity to hear firsthand from the pioneer who shattered barriers and made history by claiming victory in one of cycling's most grueling and revered events, so I hope you will join me!
