Happy Pride, Johh!
This month is an incredibly special time for us to come together and celebrate the vibrant and diverse LGBTQ+ community that has thrived in Colorado. It's a moment to reflect on the progress we've made together and our role in the ongoing fight for equal rights.
As a founding member of the LGBT Equality Caucus, I firmly believe every single person deserves the opportunity to live their truth boldly and unapologetically. Our nation was built on the fundamental principle that all individuals are created equal. Sadly, our government hasn't always lived up to this ideal, but it's our duty to stand up and defend equality for ALL Americans.
With Republicans in control of the House and many state legislatures, we've seen an alarming rise in vicious campaigns targeting LGBTQ+ individuals and organizations. LGBTQ+ communities across the nation have had to endure outrageous legislation aimed directly at attacking their basic rights — including restrictions on gender-affirming healthcare, bans on drag shows, censorship of LGBTQ+ history, forced outings in schools, and so much more.
As a country, we cannot condone anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination and hate. Pride isn't just about showing support in June. It means supporting and protecting LGBTQ+ rights every day.
With so much at stake in November, we can't afford to stand on the sidelines. Celebrate Pride by committing to fight for equality for our LGBTQ+ communities >> [link removed]
The fight for equality is far from over, I am proud to continue my work for a better future and hope you'll join me.
Thank you,
— Diana DeGette
