Dear Friend --
I am writing to make an urgent appeal to support the
June 8 mass mobilization, during
which tens of thousands of people will form a human “red line” against
genocide around the White House. If you have already donated, thank
you. This is a grassroots movement, and we rely on the support of
individuals who share the same commitment.
If you were with me in Washington, D.C., during the past week, you
would have been as amazed as I was by the massive volunteer operation
making the June 8 mobilization possible. Last night, hundreds
of individuals came to the volunteer session. These folks are
working round the clock—before and after work—doing outreach, passing
out flyers, putting up posters, organizing transportation centers,
working on logistics, bus greeters, and many other tasks. It has been
a profoundly moving and inspiring effort. A new movement has been
born!
While this effort is based on the work of volunteers, we also
desperately need funds to cover the vast expenses that we have
incurred. Even if you can’t come to participate on June 8 personally,
you can still make an important contribution by making
an urgently needed donation.
Many people have donated, but we must catch up and meet our
expenses, which we can only
do with the generous donations of those who share the same commitment
to end the US-backed Israeli killing spree in Gaza.
All contributions can be used as a tax-deductible
donation for the 2024 tax year. This effort relies on the
sacrifice and commitment of individuals, of people of conscience, who
are the backbone of this new movement for justice for the Palestinian
people.
A few days I explained the staggering costs of a massive
mobilization. These would not be “staggering” for Corporate America,
but for a grassroots movement, they are.
- Each of ANSWER's 4 buses from Boston costs $7,300. Even though we
fully expect to sell every ticket (at $70), we will lose thousands of
dollars per bus. Buses from Iowa ($12,500), Western Mass. and Maine
cost even more.
- We've already spent $45,000 on buses from New York City, with each
bus incurring a loss.
- The cost of two sound systems and two stages alone cost over
$19,000
This is just a small sampling. The total expenses are already over
$150,000. As I said, this mobilization is fueled by teams of
volunteers working night and day in chapters nationwide to help make
this march a huge success. But we can only succeed with your help — please make a donation here.
I hope to see you tomorrow (June 8) in Washington DC!
Sincerely,
Brian Becker Executive Director,
