Last week, Donald Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts of falsification of business records right here in New York. It’s deeply troubling for our country that the Republican Party is choosing a convicted criminal as its presidential nominee—and that Mike Lawler is supporting Trump for the third consecutive time.

Take a look at these headlines:

Lawler called Trump’s conviction in a fair trial by a jury of his peers "destructive to our country" and said the verdict “undermines our electoral process and judicial system.”

Lawler is claiming to now care about the electoral process despite supporting a man who tried to overturn the results of a free and fair election and continues to attack our democracy at every turn.

Not only is he falsely pretending to care about our democracy, but he also is trying to sell voters on the idea that he actually cares about law and order. The fact is, Lawler cannot claim to support law enforcement or our democracy while continuing to support the twice-impeached, serially indicted, and now criminally convicted former president.

Let me be clear, John: Mike Lawler is dangerous to our country just like Donald Trump. He has shown time and again he will do whatever Trump and MAGA extremists want—even if it’s at the expense of the hardworking people of the Lower Hudson Valley.

Our country deserves better than a president who incited a violent insurrection and continues to cozy up to Nazis—and NY-17 deserves better than a Trump lackey representing us in Congress. We need leaders who uphold the law and put the interests of their constituents above all else.
