This week, we celebrated World Environment Day — a timely reminder that right-wing Republicans like Glenn Youngkin and Donald Trump don’t care about our environment. Period.

Youngkin, a climate change denier, pulled Virginia from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, which helps curb emissions. He is also working to gut recycling regulations.

Even just this week, he ended Virginia's participation in California's vehicle emission standards which would require 22% of new vehicle sales to be zero emission by the end of 2025. Our legislature voted to adopt these rules three years ago, and he's unilaterally undoing the voice of democracy with this move.

His MAGA master, Donald Trump, is even worse. During his presidency, Trump and his political appointees slashed funding to the EPA, ignored environmental regulations and laws, and took the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accord.

Trump launched the worst assault on efforts to protect the environment in decades — and now he wants to do even more significant harm.

We know these are serious times, friend — and serious times need serious solutions.

Trump and his MAGA minions like Glenn Youngkin have zero interest in tackling climate change and protecting our environment. Their only interest is in wielding unrestrained power.
