Hello,

This weekend is a great chance to get your kids out on the water and teach them about a shared Minnesota tradition – fishing! Starting today through Sunday, Minnesota is hosting “Take a Kid Fishing Weekend.” Minnesota adults without a fishing license are able to fish for free June 7-9 if they bring children 15 or younger with them. Recently, Minnesota proclaimed June “Great Outdoors Month,” and this is a great way to enjoy the nice weather and make lasting memories.

If you’re looking for a new spot to fish, check out the maps below:

  • Cass: lower, upper

  • Crow Wing

  • Itasca: northeast, southeast, west

Tribal Cannabis Grant

You may have heard about the recent decision to override the IRRR Advisory Board’s vote against a $2.5 million loan for a tribal cannabis facility.

I am deeply disappointed by the decision to proceed with this project despite the board’s clear decision to vote against it. This move not only undermines our process but also the role of the board. Our community expects leadership that adheres to the decisions made through proper channels, and ignoring a majority vote sets a dangerous precedent and erodes the trust the northland has in this organization.
