Te Pāti Māori Pānui

Kia Ora Friend,

Te Ngākau o Te Iwi Māori: The Declaration of Māori Political Independence.

Tuatahi e mihi ana ki ngā mate o wā. Koutou kua mene atu ki te pō. Haere, haere, whakangaro atu rā.

We would like to take this time to thank our people who participated in all activations around the motu. Our activations were like no other: peaceful, respectful, and mokopuna-focused.

As we reflect, we are reminded of why we activated in such numbers. Ko ngā mokopuna te take! Toitū te Tiriti!

We must continue to activate on all fronts, and our declaration - Te Ngākau o Te Iwi Māori - is another form of activation. Click here to sign. As tangata whenua and under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, we have every right to establish what we think is a Māori Parliament. Tīpuna guided, mokopuna-driven.

Te Pāti Māori will never enter into the establishment of a Māori parliament without working with all other initiatives who are attempting to do the same, including iwi, hapu, and Māori communities.

We do, however, understand that there is a huge catchment of Te Iwi Māori who are not connected to these entities, and we wish to ensure that we capture their aspirations as we work towards this goal.

The establishment of a Māori parliament has always been part of our policy platform, and we intend to move forward rather than just talking about it. We are committed to working with everyone. Mō ngā tamariki mokopuna te take!

We are actioning the moemoea that our tipuna had for us, their mokopuna.

Please sign and share with all contacts.

Ngā mihi,

Te Pāti Māori
