Trump just signed two executive orders that would rush construction of dirty oil and gas pipelines. This is unacceptable, Friend. Trump just signed two executive orders that will greenlight oil and gas pipelines in states and communities that don't want them.

This is nothing more than another handout to Trump's Big Polluter pals at the expense of our health and environment.

Here's how we can fight back: Congress has the ability to step up and stop Trump's pipeline executive orders. But in order for that to happen we need to speak out ? our members of Congress are currently back in their districts for recess and it's critical that they hear from LCV members like you. If we show Congress just how opposed their constituents are to Trump's actions, we can push them to act. Let's be clear: Trump is using his presidential power to help Big Polluters build more pipelines more quickly and expand the use of dirty fossil fuels. Under Trump's latest executive orders, any state in the country could have dirty pipelines pushed through against the will of the residents. Since communities of color and low-income communities disproportionately live near oil and gas pipelines, these communities would face exacerbated risks of dangerous oil spills. We cannot put our communities on the line for Trump's polluter agenda.

These executive orders also could stall our movement away from dirty fossil fuels. Despite the clean energy progress happening around the country, Trump is trying to prop up the fossil fuel industry and keep the country hooked on oil and gas.

We can't let that happen: Late last year, the National Climate Assessment made it clear that if we don't cut carbon emissions from fossil fuels now, we are going to face food shortages, droughts, wildfires, eroding coastlines, and severe poverty. While Trump may be willing to support Big Polluters, dedicated LCV members like you know that it's now or never to change the course of climate change ? and that means leaving fossil fuels in the past.

Friend, the President should be prioritizing the needs of people, not polluters. Over the years, hundreds of thousands of LCV members have called, emailed, and rallied against the development of new oil and gas pipelines. Now, we must show our members of Congress just how urgent the need is to resist the blatant handout to Big Polluters and oppose Trump's executive orders.
