Managing Chronic Health Conditions
June is Migraine and Headache Awareness Month | Did you know that headache-related disability is a significant contributor to school absenteeism and decreased quality of life? This is why Migraine and Headache Awareness Month and the dedicated efforts to raise public knowledge about headache disorders, empower individuals affected by these conditions, and advocate for advancements in treatment and research are so important.
In honor of this observance, you can check out NASN's NCPD program, The Emerging School Nurse Leader Role in Decreasing School Absenteeism in Children with Migraine Headache, which highlights the Headache Action Plan Project for Youth (HAPPY) and how timely identification and effective management of childhood migraine could prevent chronification and long-term disability.
