John,
In the nearly two years since the disastrous Dobbs Supreme Court ruling, 23 states have passed regressive and restrictive anti-abortion laws, meaning women in these states now have less control of their bodies, their careers and their futures.
These rulings and bans also mean that in our post-Roe America, many hopeful parents are understandably worried about Republicans criminalizing the use of assisted reproductive healthcare technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) — a process used for decades to help people start or grow their families.
That's why this past week in the Senate, I introduced the Right to IVF Act, legislation that will protect the right to access IVF for families across America.
My Right to IVF Act is just the beginning, and an important stepping stone toward restoring Roe's protections and enshrining reproductive rights for all into law.
This issue is incredibly personal to me, John. Without IVF, my husband and I wouldn't have our two beautiful daughters. That is something we cherish deeply, and are so incredibly grateful for—and I know millions of families nationwide wouldn’t have been able to grow their families without it either.
The bottom line is that for those families—in red states and blue states all across the country—struggling with infertility is painful enough, and every American deserves the right to have access to the care they need.
That's why women and their doctors alone should decide what healthcare decisions are best for themselves—not Republican politicians. And it's why I'm asking you today:
As always, thank you for joining me in that effort, and thank you in advance for adding your name today.
All my best,
Tammy
