Note From the Chair
Friend,
Now that the primaries are behind us, I am so excited to introduce you to our Democratic nominees for the 2024 general election! Particularly, I’d like to introduce you to our nominees for Iowa’s four congressional seats because we all know the road to a Democratic majority in the House runs through Iowa.

Christina Bohannan (IA-01) is a mom, law professor, and former engineer. She’s running because we need less bickering in Congress and more folks working together. Christina is running a strong, organized campaign focused on the issues that matter to Iowans – good jobs, lower health care costs, reproductive freedom, and common sense. She’s ready to bring common sense Iowa values to D.C.
Sarah Corkery (IA-02) is a mom, a cancer survivor, and a community leader. She’s running to represent IA-02 in Congress because she believes Iowans deserve a representative who cares more about people than politics. As a mom of three, Sarah is committed to safeguarding our state and country’s future for generations. As a community activist engaged in healthcare advocacy, she knows what it’s like to work across the table for the common good.
Lanon Baccam (IA-03) has served our country as a combat engineer in Afghanistan and our farmers and veterans with Tom Vilsack at USDA. Ever since he announced his candidacy for Iowa’s Third Congressional District he’s been laying out his plan to lower costs for Iowans, protect Social Security and Medicare and maintain reproductive rights for women.
Ryan Melton (IA-04) was born and raised in the Midwest. He is the first of his immediate family to graduate college, and understands the struggles of working families. Ryan is a husband and the father of two boys. He knows there are many obstacles that make it hard for Iowa’s communities and families to thrive, but he’s got the ambition, skill and courage to challenge the status quo.
Each of these candidates will do an excellent job representing Iowa in Congress, but they’re going to need your help to get there. That’s why I’m asking you to plan your vote for this November at iowademocrats.org/PlanYourVote [[link removed]] . Knowing we can rely on your vote is so important.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the candidates who are running to represent you this fall.
Sincerely,
Rita Hart
Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party
