Let’s keep up the pressure on the Government: Demand an Israeli arms embargo NOW!

Here is your spring edition of CAAT News. Thank you all for your great encouragement and support over the past months, it’s really kept us going through some trying times.

Our appeal last month for funding to keep pressure on the Government
for an Israeli arms embargo was very well-supported - and it was especially welcoming to see so many first-time donors. Thank you!
Do, please, keep supporting us as you are able.

Here are a few of the main subjects explored in this issue:
• We look at the protests around the increasing links between universities and the arms industry and the new report Weaponising Universities. See page 3.
• On page 5 you can see a pie chart showing the global share of arms exporting countries from SIPRI’s annual report.
• We focus on legal and parliamentary issues around the genocidal war on Gaza on pages 6 & 7.
• We turn our arms fair lens towards Twickenham and Bristol on pages 8 & 9.
• Read about the cosy relationship between the Scottish Parliament and the arms trade and the reception organised by the ADS group (yes, they of the Arms Dealers’ Dinner) on page 13.

Check our Events page on our website for details of CAAT’s 50th anniversary. On Wednesday, 19th June, Sam Perlo-Freeman will give a lecture at the LSE Library entitled Campaign Against Arms Trade at 50: Adapting resistance to a changing world. Limited tickets will be available, but it will be recorded and shared through YouTube for all to see. We are also planning an afternoon for supporters to gather and see the exhibition at the LSE in September. And there is an idea for something arty and musical for November. Keep watching for updates (and do let us have your email address as much of the promotion will be online).
