Team,

If you need your appendix removed, do you have to justify your decision to the government? How about when your medical provider recommends a mammogram? Should they be required to pry into irrelevant details about your private life and report that personal information to the government?

A Kansas law, set to take effect July 1, requires health care providers to do just that when patients are seeking abortion care. It's a violation of patient privacy, jeopardizes provider-patient relationships— and we're fighting back. [[link removed]]

SUPPORT THIS FIGHT [[link removed]]

The law, HB 2749, requires health care providers to interrogate patients seeking abortion care with invasive and unnecessary questions, including probing the "reasons" they are seeking an abortion. The Center for Reproductive Rights and Planned Parenthood are asking the court to add claims against HB 2749 to an ongoing case brought on behalf of Kansas abortion providers.

The decision to have an abortion is deeply personal—no one should be forced to tell the government why they are making that decision. [[link removed]] It's frankly frightening that the state of Kansas is attempting to collect this type of private information, and unclear how it will be used.

The Center is committed to protecting the privacy and constitutional rights of Kansans and people fleeing states where abortion is banned to seek care elsewhere. Your support is CRITICAL to our work. Every bit of progress we make is because of you— and thanks to a special match your gift today will go 6X AS FAR, up to $150,000. [[link removed]] Sincerely,
