One year ago, violence erupted in Sudan’s capital city — and millions of families have escaped since. It’s World Refugee Awareness Month. Will you speak up and stand with child refugees? [[link removed]]
Monica* was 14 when her family fled South Sudan.
For ten years, they built a life in neighboring Sudan – until last April. The sudden conflict set them on a dangerous journey back to South Sudan, when armed men ambushed their vehicle.
“ A soldier almost took me as a wife,” Monica, now 25, remembers, “forcing my family to give him all our phones and belongings to set me free.”
Her grandmother tragically passed along the way, but there was no time to grieve. While Monica’s mother arranged a burial, her children trudged on.
Four days later, they reunited at the crossing point in Renk — safe, but shaken up.
Every day, 1,000 Sudanese people travel the same perilous path. Tell Congress to send lifesaving support! [[link removed]]

Sudan has now become the world’s largest child displacement crisis. Monica is working with our sister organization, Save the Children, to help other refugees resettle.
Most arrive in South Sudan empty-handed — with little access to water, health care or shelter in the scorching heat. She often meets children who’ve survived multiple displacements, knowing nothing but war their entire lives.
Even after reaching safety, they face additional challenges – like South Sudan’s food shortage. By next month, more than 7 million people there are expected to experience hunger.
John , kids’ futures depend on critical humanitarian aid. Please, urge Congress to fund it. [[link removed]]
Thanks for being a voice for kids,
