Governor Gordon Lauds WGA’s 40 Years of Advocacy for the West Wyo Chief Exec: “Association provides collaborative setting for policy discussion …” CHEYENNE, Wyo – Governor Mark Gordon (R-WYO) today congratulated the Western Governors’ Association (WGA) in celebration of the organization's 40 years of service advocating for the 22 westernmost United States and US territories. Governor Gordon served as Chairman of the bipartisan association this year, ascending previously from the role of Vice Chair. “WGA is a vital force for Wyoming and western states. At a time when our nation faces increasing dissension, and our citizens grow weary of bipartisan discord and political bickering, the association provides a setting for thoughtful policy discussion and development, and collective action on issues of importance to the West,” Governor Gordon said. WGA regularly weighs in on federal policy based on resolutions that have been approved by member governors. Recent outreach efforts include:
WGA correspondences often lead to testimony before congressional committees, the association helps to set agendas, and protect and promote western interests. A library of the association’s policy reports is available on WGA’s 40th anniversary website. During WGA’s two-day annual meeting next week Governor Gordon will release his Chairman’s Initiative Decarbonizing the West and pass the gavel to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM). . “Western Governors’ commitment to bipartisanship cannot be understated,” Jack Waldorf, Executive Director of WGA said. “Over the past 40 years, the bipartisan collaboration among western governors has led to the development of meaningful policy that makes a difference in the lives of their constituents and across the West as a whole.
