John,

Check out this New York Times article about why so many Representatives are retiring from Congress this cycle.

I had two big takeaways from the article.

1. 54 House members, about one-eighth of the total, are not seeking another term. This includes rising stars, seasoned legislators, and committee chairs from both parties. Losing serious legislators is a huge loss for our country.

2. Many are leaving due to dissatisfaction with the institution's dysfunction and lack of meaningful legislative progress. They feel that being a Representative has become more about getting a sound byte on social media and making a ripple than creating real change.

We’re running on fixing our broken Congress. That means putting substance over flash and putting policy over sound bytes. Legislators today work to get their base riled up instead of actually legislating for their constituents. That won't be me. This campaign is about Making Congress Work Again.

I’m not running for Congress to repeat tired talking points. I’m running to provide for you. If you agree we need legislators who actually do the hard work of passing legislation, will you donate $10, $25, $50, $100, or any other amount to help us beat Max Miller?

Sincerely,

Matt Diemer
